Culture Lighting

One of the sectors in which the culture of light requires the greatest commitment is museum lighting, and more generally illuminating the spaces used to display art: art galleries, exhibition buildings, churches, historic buildings. The main aim of museum lighting is to promote the inspiration and enjoyment found in works of art, while at the same time protecting it from the damage that light radiation can cause to more sensitive materials.

Illuminating spaces used to showcase culture & art

To fully appreciate works of art, exhibition lighting calls requires expert lighting design and the correct interpretation of the relationship between art and light. In museum lighting, particular attention is paid to respecting the colour quality of the work by selecting top quality lamps and seeking the right balance in the light emission spectrum. The most widely used luminaires are indoor spotlights, which are fitted on electric tracks, allowing easy modification without the need for major technical work.

Application areas Culture

Cultural lighting precisely highlights the details of exhibits while protecting their quality and color. Dimming and spotlights are used in exhibition spaces for fine-tuning, while low-heat, low-UV LED lighting is used in art and artifact areas to minimize potential damage.

Artifacts and antiquities

Artifacts and antiquities are extremely sensitive to light due to their age and material properties. To minimize damage to these valuable exhibits, low-illumination and wavelength-specific filters are often used to provide soft and harmless lighting.

Exhibition Space

In the exhibition area, lighting needs to accurately and meticulously display the details and features of the exhibits. A dimming system is usually used here to flexibly adjust the light brightness for different exhibition needs. Spotlights are also widely used, which can precisely illuminate specific exhibits to make them stand out from the background.

Entrances and Corridors

Entrances and corridors are where visitors first encounter the museum, so their lighting design should be bright, safe, and inviting. Utilize even general and directional lighting to ensure visitors can easily find the entrance and navigate comfortably while walking.

Art Display

Artwork, especially paintings and sculptures, require particularly careful lighting design. Because they can be extremely sensitive to heat and UV rays. For this reason, low-heat, low-UV LED lighting systems have become the first choice, which can effectively reduce potential light damage.

Educational and activity

Educational and activity areas often require adjustable, multifunctional lighting systems. These areas may host various lectures, workshops and performance events, so the lighting will need to be adapted to different event types and needs.

Dunk 100

Small beam angle & High light intensity

The Dunk 100 multilens version offers even more flexibility. Depending on the application, different beam characteristics can be realised to achieve a more efficient staging of objects or interiors. For this purpose, there are five attachment lenses that can be easily exchanged without tools. This allows curators to make adjustments easily and without complications. For changing interiors, Dunk 100 multilens is a cost-effective way to direct the focus of the light where it is needed.

Dunk 80 ZOOM

Precise and variable basic/focus

Dunk 80 ZOOM is open to change. The spotlights can be mounted and moved along the busbars without tools. The spotlight head can be turned, swivelled, and fixed in the desired position almost entirely at will. Dunk 80 ZOOM illuminates precisely and remains adjustable after installation.

Dunk 80 ZOOM focus's variable beam angle of between 10° and 45° tailors it to the object, correctly displaying historical and modern works of art. Dunk 80 ZOOM has a manual dimming function directly on the spotlight head – for brightness that can be set on-site, optimally matched to the object, the ambient light, and the desired mood.
